The first time you see “Rose Cafe”, you feel as though a tornado with impeccable taste plucked the building from somewhere in the English countryside and plonked it right down in the middle of Saidulajaib in New Delhi.
Serving freshly made “comfort food” it’s a great place to have a cup of coffee or tea with some light, healthy snacks like the ploughman’s sandwich, Tarte flambée, or a BLT.
When I asked Sarita Ahuja,(the lovely lady behind Rose Cafe) what her favourite item on the menu was, she answered as all loving mothers would, if asked to name a favourite child. “The food on offer are favourites that members of my family have come to love and each of the dishes have a special history behind it.. It’s the kind of food that’s very simple and wholesome – food which formed a part of my childhood, which was routinely made at home, but is unfortunately not being made anymore.“
“I hope the people enjoy the place and the food – it’s 100% satisfying to hear people say the food was awesome, and it’s even better to have them visit a second time around. Not to sound clichéd, but I’ve always dreamed of owning my own cafe and being able to do so finally, with the support of my family and friends, is extremely fulfilling.”
Here’s a little teaser about some of MY favorite dishes on offer at the quaint little baby pink building in Saidulajaib.
